Felda Residence Hot Spring, Sungkai Klah

The sign is so big that you wont miss it!

it took us about 2 hours to reach our destination that is over 160km away from our home. Upon arrival, we were surprise to see the parking lot pretty empty. After checking in (it cost us rm135 for a room of 2. special offer. what a bargain!) we crash the room and started enjoying the facilities.

                                               our rooms

To fill our rumbling stomach, we had lunch in the cafeteria.

                                              me. Joanne

                                      rm14.50 nasi goreng

We were about to leave the room to soak ourselves in the hot spring when it started pouring cats and dogs. it was crazy, the rain looked like it wont stop. However, after an hour or so, the weather was getting clearer and off we went.

The distance from the rooms to the hot spring is about 1km. In between that distance were empty lands for camp sites.

There were a few things to explore in the hot spring other than just soaking up. We ventured the boardwalk which was a long wooden bridge built atop a flowing hot springs river. i was pretty annoyed with the heat and left as soon as we finish, only to realise later that it was actually an open sauna. (OOooohhh... no wonder)

rain drops keep falling on our head

We started to soak ourselves in an open pool of warm water. it was a shallow pool with beautiful water features. the nearer you get to certain features, the tempreature of the gets higher.

Next we headed off to boil eggs. it was nice of the management to supply strainers. and it was also creative for them to post up a timeline for the doneness of the eggs. all of us had ours hard boiled.

                                     raw eggs to be boiled

As we were waiting for the eggs to be cooked, we tried soaking our legs in the nearby pond with the temperature of..

                                       its hot!! no kidding!

                            concentrating hard to ignore pain

After 7 minutes or so..

                                    savouring freshly boiled eggs

After a quick snack (we should have brought some salt n pepper), we left for the therapy walk. This stretch of pebbles is slightly different from the ones we have on the park. it is white, long, blunt... and hot. Moreover, i felt that it is not as painful as the latter. So like they say, if you feel pain when you walk on those pebbles, you have some bad toxic in your body!

Next to the therapy walk were 3 ponds with different temperature of water. little did we know we were going in the hottest of them all. when i lowered my foot in, it reminded me of a hot bath in Japan. it was crazy. the heat was so extreme that you really need to take your sweet time to submerge your body.

when we had enough of heat, we splashed ourselves with icy cold water that was availalbe in the open pool. it was a great refreshing feeling.

too bad we didnt had the chance to experince the one and only cold water pool as they are having a construction. All in all we had a great time and i would love to go back again.

The next day after a late check out, we randomly drove another 100kilometres to Sitiawan to have a great meal of noodles.

                                         buying fruits from Bidor

we drove all the way for this

After lunch, we went to a stall near Fajar mall that sells cendol. Apparently this particular stall had served their cendols to the king of Perak. They also have a trademark, which is wearing a big red bow tie at all times.

HellooOOooOOo Finland

This was that i was wearing throughout my almost-27-hour-journey to Finland. it wasnt as fun as i thought it would be because i was extremely uncomfortable with the uniform and the journey was never ending.

Waiting for over 4 hours in Frankfurt

A tiny restaurant in the middle of the train

                                  i was like damn stoned

However, i made it in one piece to my destination.

bowling dayy
Yong Jay and i were competing in bowling and i was in the lead.

My frame was the last one and i was leading by 7 pins!

It has been quite a while since i played bowling. I didnt realise the price has reached up to rm8 per game, i thought it was like rm 5 and below. Everything is so costly now a days.

                                jyn weii, yong jay, June

                                      jiwern, lg

everyone had different styles of bowling. However most of us just wants the ball to stay in the middle lane and knock of every pin standing.

The ladies style of throwing the ball

                                              The mens...

Sadly after the 6th frame, Yong Jay was catching up and he beat me over by a few pins.

sigh.. anyone up for ping pong?

                                   lol this is quite random....

A bonding night

It was a bonding night between me, Sabrina and Andrew.

Well. it was a bit of bonding, but i should say its more of a drinking session.

                                                   Cheers!

i warmed up with a tuborg and andrew had a gin on the rocks while waiting for sabrina to arrive. When she finally did, we played some card games and chat a bit.

The 1/4 bottle of tequila eventually found itself on the table with shooter glass, salt and lemon. The usual way to serve shots is to rim the mouth of the glass with salt. After downing the shot of tequila with hints of salt, suck on a slice of lemon to finish it up.

our shots ready to be downed

                                cheeeeeeeeeeeers!

Andrew sucking on the whole sliced lemon

We played poker and the winner gets to see the losers downing shots of tequila. Surprising enough, sabrina was wining most of the game.. Andrew was all to happy to drink but i was already getting tipsy.

After every drop of tequila was removed from the bottle, we proceed to cocktails

Guiding sabrina to make a nice creamy drink

                                    For the 2nd time, cheers!

They liked it, good. Apparently not everyone can handle it.

So with a bottle of beer, nearly 10 shots of tequila and some sips of the pina colada. i was gone.

Yong Jay's specialty

Yong Jay told me he wanted to cook us a dinner and his special dish will be a wellington. My eyes widen and i just stared at him for a while. im SURPRISE. yong jay wants to COOK and it's not just a wellington, it is going to be a 3 course meal. My my, looks like Malaysia will be snowing after all.

As usual, everyone turned up late on friday night. (even myself but i gave prior notice!) upon arrival, i fed everyone with my usual pina cola while chef jay bakes his appetizer

                               freshly made Pina colada

how does it feel to have boobs lg?

This was our menu for the night.

                       Asparagus wrapped with Bacon

                                     xxxxxxxxxxxx

Grilled Lamb Rack with "turned carrots"
                         mashed potatoes and fresh vegetable

                                     xxxxxxxxxxxx

                        "Homemade" dessert with ice cream

yep. we got conned. It was a lamb rack medium rare instead of a wellington.

                             mise en place for dinner

So anyways, appetizer was served and we all sat down to eat

                          xiwern was the server :)

                  Baked asparagus wrapped with bacon

For beverage, we had baileys on the rocks served by chef jay's dad and a bottle of merlot from france. Yong Jay's family own this cool wine opener gadjet that doesnt require any skills. In fact, it fosters relationship among us as we all took part in opening one bottle of wine.

                          Baileys on the rocks!!

                            ta~da, le wine opener

Xi wern started off by cutting off the seal with this seal cutter. I then remove the wine cork with the easy gadget and finally, joanne pours the wine.

A 2005 Merlot from Bordeaux

This was a very light wine with little tannin

After appetizer, Chef jay went back to his kitchen while the rest of us waited for the next course.

                                             sean .me. joanne. me

Lg looks overdosed with rum, baileys and wine....

Jeng jeng jeng!!! chef Jay's lamb is ready to serve

                                       Gueridon service

And voila, our main course of medium rare lamb
with broccoli, mashed potatoes and carrots

The carrots were supposed to be TURNED. But chef jay commented that there wasnt enough time to turned them. so he sliced them instead :)

                              Everyone enjoying the lamb

After main course was cleared away, we proceed to dessert..

                             chocolate brownies with ice cream

                                     Eclairs with ice cream

Yong Jay's homemade dessert was actually purchased from a bakery store. lol.

A surprise from yong jay to his two ladies

After clearing the table and dishes, we continue what we do best before we
went home

yeah, well most of us ran our of pose

im getting old
The clock struck 12mid night when i was watching ip-man on tv. Sms were flowing in to wish me a 20th happy birthday (dammit im reaching the 2nd stage of life). 15 minutes later my door bell rang and i wondered who could be at the doorstep at this hour?  To my great surprise it was Sabrina, Sue Keng and Yao Wei with a chocolate mousse cake with 2 lit candles singing happy birthday.

i was really surprised and i had to tear away from the tv to recieve them with my pyjamas on. My wonderful friends had to sing happy birthday trice to get into a rythmn before i blew the candles off.

When i went to college the next day, another birthday song and a cake (thanks joanne and everyone involved) blew me off just before our HRM class begin. i remember seeing mr.elangkovan waiting patiently at the front corner for us to finish.

                                       my birthday cake

                                            las carretas

During the night, i chosed to celebrate my birthday with my family in a mexican restaurant called las carretas. It was a very cute place with super bright yellow walls, fake palm trees, lots of photo frames, lots of tabasco and a variety of dimmed and bright lights.

we ordered some appetizers and mains to share and all of us had alcohol; beer, cocktail and more beer. For our meals, we started out with some nachos, soup, chicken wings (oh the wings were good. it was hot, salty, spicy and with the dip- you're in heaven). as for the mains, we shared a lamb chop, some tacos and some wraps which i seriously forgotten what's it called.

stella artois .  cosmopolition and an all-time-favourite carlsberg

                        complimentary nachos with some dip

                                      Mexican Chilli Soup

                                          Guacamole dip

finger licking fresh hot wings with irresistable hot sauce!

alcohol starting to take effect before the main course

For mains,

                                   Taco with mince chicken

erm.. burritos with chicken... i think..

                              enchiladas with beef fillings

                                       crusted lamb rack

And the birthday celebration starts..

For dessert, we had brownies! it was very chocolaty and thick. too thick i would say, i prefer chef karam's brownies. Anyways, as a birthday girl, i was given a treat to wear a mexican hat. it was well, big, long and a little bit heavy

i was forced to wear a hat!

and when everyone had a little too much to drink..

Everyone wants to wear the hat..

                            My dad wore the hat.....

                                       My mom wore the hat...

                                    My sister wore the hat.....

                        same goes for my brother-in-law.....

                                 hey! thats wrong

the bright painted walls, the fake palm trees..

lots of frames and colours on the wall, a very cosy place

Cheers! to an ever growing age

It was a fun and exciting place with great food to go to. i would really recommand it not only for birthday occasions but also for just dinner. Go and have a blast!

happie 20th jia jun!
this happen almost 3 months ago but, better late then never :p

Our dearest friend jia jun, with an early birthday among our circle has reached the age of 20. To respect the eldest we brought him to dinner in kim gary, pyramid. Even though me and sabrina were the only ones who could make it, we still tried to make it as happening as possible.

                                 Birthday boy!

Not wanting to be the centre of attraction when blewing a birthday cake, we left kim gary to a quieter compound. we sat down near a water feature outside sunway lagoon's entrance and it felt odd because 2 or 3 couples can be seen cuddling and sitting together around. Nevertheless, we remained seated and started lighting the candles.

                          lighting up the candles

                                   Burning up!

i wish.. to grow taller? hehe..

                               me. b'day boy. sabrina

Enjoying the cake with bare hands

me and sabrina sang a birthday song to jia jun (we acutually whispered all the way to not attract attention) and he blew the candles after making a wish.

Nagomi in Jaya 33
One evening, my family and i decided to eat in Oriental Pavilion located in Jaya 33. However a wedding dinner has booked the entire restaurant for the whole night. Not wanting to drive out to hunt for food, we went to check out what other restaurant in the building.

Unfortunately there werent much restaurant choices in Jaya 33 to choose from so we settled for a japanese cuisine in Nagomi.

                         le menu et le chopstick

                             the interior of Nagomi

The interior of this japanese outlet was pleasant with cosy seatings and warm decor. All of their tables were also attached with individual hot pots that goes accordingly to the number of  seats a table can accommodate.

                               Individual hot pots!

Their menu offers a la carte and also sets of shabu-shabu.

We chosed to have the sets of shabu-shabu along with some tib bits on the side.

There were choices of the broth such as beef or chicken or fish; vegetable set, beef set or chicken set. Not wanting to miss the difference of it, each of us took a different set.

Server pouring your choice of broth
(she's using this kettle with a long mouth)

Here comes the ingredients

A set of green vegetables and tofu

                               and chicken....

                           and thinly sliced beef.....

and some noodles to go along

A variety of sauce was available to enjoy
                     the ingredients in shabu-shabu

                                          voila!

                                a la ikan bilis (lol..)

when your soup is finish, just call the server
and she will fill it up for you

overall everything was okay but there was nothing loud to shout about

Tenji in Solaris Mont Kiara

Tenji had a promotion in early january with an attractive rate of rm29.90++ for the first hour and an additional rm10 for each continuing hour. It was suppose to be a lovely date between Xiwern and LG but we decided to trash it by joining in.

we were lucky to have a 3 and a 1/2 hour break on thursday so off we went to Mont Kiara to feast on the japanese buffet.

Upon arrival, there was a long queue outside Tenji. Apparently everyone had a reservation but we were just waiting to be ushered in. Looks like they were opening the table in the mircos to start the clock ticking.

                        long queue outside the restaurant

looks like joanne is not qualified (DUH!)

The server ushering us was walking a normal pace, however we behind were overwhelmed with excitement and anxiety that we followed so closely to him. After he showed us our table we sped to the buffet area and started sweeping food to our plates.

Thanks to the skill taught by college to carry 3 plates on one hand, we thick skin people were carrying 2 plates on one hand. (three was a bit too much).

we didnt had much time to eat as we only wanted to stay for an hour. with the remaining 10-15 minutes, we quickly attack the dessert area with ice creams, pastries and chocolates

Due to the time limit, i had insufficient time to snap pictures, so multiple quick shot was taken while having our meal

everyone made sure we all took enough for the 7 of us

reagan's acting cute (not working! lol)

we took lots of coconuts too, they were really good

and we wonder if they recycle them.....

table full of food, coconuts and more food

to our surprise, there were leftovers

With our bellies all filled up and food resting on throat level, we left Tenji with a record time of 1 hour and 3 minutes. it was fun but i dont think i want to do it again.

a very calm and zen interior

before going back to college, we do what we do best.

we couldnt even leave our reflections alone
